This class is designed to provide students with the knowledge; skills and understanding that will enable them to move from adolescence to adulthood in ways that enhance healthy habits, understanding the dangers of substance abuse and making healthy decisions regarding one's sexuality.
Basic Nutrition examines the functions of nutrients in our diet and their effect on our health and growth through the various stages of our lives. Also included is information regarding the special dietary needs of various groups including infants, children and pregnant women. Special emphasis is placed on using this knowledge to help students evaluate their own diets and understand and evaluate information they read.

This course is designed to introduce the student to a variety of team and individual sports. Emphasis is on skill development for those activities. Emphasis is also placed on physical fitness. The Physical Fitness Program is used to measure fitness level in the following fitness components: aerobic, endurance, body composition, flexibility, abdominal strength endurance and upper body strength endurance.

PREREQUISITE: Basic Physical Education
This course is designed to assist those students who would like to have an intensive program to develop their individual and athletic skills in Team Sports. Athletic skills of strength, power, quickness and endurance are achieved through the use of a weight program, plyometrics, running, and a variety of other activities for the student to reach their full potential. Emphasis is also placed on skill development in the various team sports and proper diet to improve individual performance. This course is also designed to give students a more intense form of physical training. Stress is placed on either muscle tone, or strength building, according to the student's choice. Agility skills and all around development of each individual's potential in relation to their body are taught.
