Girls Basketball: The Marine City 7th grade girls beat Holland Woods 44 to 3. Paige Tranchida led the scoring attack with 12 points, followed by Antonia Potvin with 10 points. Libby Black had 8 points and Desaray DeSnyder had 6 points. Also contributing to the victory was Hannah Walendowski with 6 rebounds and Karyssa Austin with 6 assists, 4 steal and 2 blocks. Nice job Lady Mariners!!
Congratulations to the 8th grade basketball team for their convincing 22-11 win over Holland Woods last night. NINE different players scored in the victory, led by Sarah Cullimore with 6 points. Sydnee Frank added 4 points and 6 rebounds in the win. The Mariners return to action on Wednesday with a home game against St. Clair. Good luck ladies!
Swim: Any boys or girls who are interested in swimming or diving in high school, should stop by the office to pick up a flyer for swim and dive clinics offered by the Varsity Swim Teams and Coaches.
Student Council: Student Council is sponsoring a "Have a Heart" drive. Students are being asked to donate items (like travel-size shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, deodorant, diapers, wipes, hats, mittens, socks, coloring books, small puzzles/toys, etc.) to their first hour classes. Items will be given to children who are placed in foster care situations and don't have anything to “call their own.”
We will collect items this week during first hour. The winning class will get a candy treat!
Student Council will be selling Candy Grams this week. You can purchase them at lunch for $1. They will be delivered to that special someone on Valentine's Day!
Attention all 7th Graders: The informational meeting for next year's 8th grade Washington D.C. trip is Wednesday, February 15th at 7:00 pm in the Media Center. Parents and students are encouraged to attend this meeting if they plan to go on next year's trip. Reservation forms will be available and registration will begin that night. A representative from the travel company will be at the meeting to cover all aspects of the trip. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Rossi at 676-1209.
8th Grade Orientation for Students & Parents: MCHS is having an orientation for all 8th grade students & parents on Wednesday, February 15th at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. The focus of the orientation will be on scheduling of classes and transitioning from middle school to high school for the 2012-2013 year.
